I’ve started this blog because family history is very important. My ancestors, while ordinary people, had fascinating lives and were part of the world’s history. I have ancestors who have fought in the Civil War and both World Wars. I have ancestors who were part of Manifest Destiny who traveled to California in a covered wagon. One branch of my family has been in New England since the 1600s. I am descended from tough, strong individuals with true grit. What a legacy I have been given.

I need to write about what I know of my family history and to find out who my ancestors were as people. I don’t have much information beyond the basic facts, but I’ll do my best with what I’ve got. My family is also directly descended from English, Scottish, Swedish and French nobility, including Charlemagne, Eleanor of Acquitane and the Plantagenets. While I don’t need to profile those individuals, it adds a rich history to an already complex and diverse family tree.

I can’t promise how often I’ll update this site, but this is an important thing to me and never far from my thoughts.
